
From olden times, Yaksandongdae has been known as one of the eight scenic spots in the northwestern part of Korea, which covers Pyongyang City, South and North Phyongan and Jagang provinces.
Yaksandongdae is a mountain on the shore of the Kuryong River 2 kilometers away to the west from the seat of Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province.

The mountain consisting of such beauty spots as Jeil Peak, Dongdae (Eastern Hill) and Hakbyoru (rocky peak) is very beautiful as it has mysterious peaks and rocks, thick forest and relics.
The word "Yaksan" means a mountain abundant in medical herbs and mineral waters and "dongdae" an observatory in the east.
In the area, there are many historical sites showing wisdom and talents of the Korean nation.
Yaksandongdae is now used as a cultural resort for the people.
