Lake Chon (Heaven -kr) is one of the eight famous scenes on Mt Paektu in the DPRK.

It is a crater lake on the highest place in the world, and various legends came into being for its natural wonders.

The height from the sea level to the surface of the lake is 2 190.15 meters. The lake is 9.16 square kilometers in area, 384 meters in maximum depth, 213.3 meters in average depth and 1 955 million cubic meters in water quantity.

On the shore of the lake, there are more than 300 species of plants and hot springs.

When the wind blows in the lake, strong waves lap rocks and cliffs.

In particular, snow scene, ice shapes of articles, ice-broken sound and snow cave near hot springs add beauty to landscape of the lake.

The magnificent view of Lake Chon, a pride of Korea and a scenic beauty of the world, inspires the Korean people with the national pride and self-confidence and makes them harden their faith and will to add luster to the beautiful country, holding in high esteem the peerlessly great men.
