Most areas south of the central part of the DPRK witnessed first snowfall of over 5 centimeters from 00:00 to 12:00 of December 13.

At the first snowfall, people of Korea might more earnestly long for Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The day after tomorrow, December 17, is the 9th anniversary of his demise.

Since the KCNA report of first snow, I have at every free time heard songs related with Chairman Kim Jong Il, who passed away at work on the train - on the ceaseless march of field guidance, exposing himself to snow and rain of the times.

My favorite is:

The lyrics tell about the field jacket that he almost always wore during his revolutionary activities. He wore it even when he welcomed Hu Jintao arriving at Pyongyang Airport on October 8, 2005. The scene must be unforgettable.

North Korean online outlets such as DPRK Today, Uriminzokkiri and Rodong Sinmun published stories about snows that evoke people's longing for the great leader Kim Jong Il.

White Snowflake of Yearning

Where Are You, Dear General

By the way, a foreign, ie Russian, medium Bolshaya Aziya (Big Asia) published the story of first snowfall in the DPRK on December 13, amazing me with the insightful note as follows:

Last year the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un marked the appearance of the first snow with a pilgrimage to the sacred mountain for Koreans, Mt Paektu. It is curious that he went up there at a gallop on a white uniform. It testified, at least, to his excellent physical shape, and at the same time to his unyielding political will and strong character.
