The Pyongyang Wheat Flour Processing Factory turns out a variety of functional processed foods.


It established a process of producing a cake by adding the powdered seeds of Hibiscus esculentus.


The seed of Hibiscus esculentus is publicly recognized as a superb foodstuff in terms of nutritional value as it is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrate and fibre and also as a health food as it contains nutrients more evenly than soya bean.


The factory’s products include more than ten kinds of processed articles such as salty cake, lysine fried bread and calcium twist.


"At present the factory is pushing at the final stage the establishment of the single-purpose production process and functional raw material production process for ensuring the production of a small quantity and large variety of products at the cake production line," said chief engineer Ri Song Hyok.
