Russia, Cuba criticize US for trying to monopolize space resources

The Russian Foreign Ministry in a recent official report said that it is contrary to the current international laws for any state to take possession of space including the moon and other celestial bodies.

The report came after the US issued a presidential executive order on commercial development of space resources.

Dmitri Peskov, the Russian president’s press secretary, in a press conference clarified Russia’s stand not to tolerate all forms of bid to privatize space.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla in his Twitter account branded the American bid as an attempt to monopolize space, and the Prensa Latina news agency commented that the presidential executive order clearly shows the US does not regard space as an asset common to mankind.
