Pyongyang, April 2 (KCNA) -- Civic organizations of south Korea including the "People for Achieving Peace and Reunification" (SPARK -ed) and the People's Solidarity for the Revision of Unequal South Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement" (People's Solidarity for SOFA Revision -ed) held on Mar. 31 a press conference at the Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul to blame the U.S. for putting pressure upon south Korea to increase its share of defence cost.

The organizations said in a press release that the U.S. is trying to impose layoff on the south Korean workers at the U.S. military bases as part of its pressure on south Korea to steeply increase its share of defence cost, adding that the presence of the U.S. forces in south Korea is for the security of the U.S. and its world hegemony.

Therefore, there is no reason for south Korea to increase the expense for the upkeep of the U.S. forces, but the U.S. should pay south Korea for the presence of its troops, the press release stressed.
