Miserable outcome of submission to US

By KCNA

It was recently disclosed that the south Korean military took care of depleted uranium shells of the U.S. forces in south Korea, which provoked a public outcry.

The south Korean Air Force has reportedly mobilized its manpower to maintain 1.32 million depleted uranium shells of the U.S. forces, which are stored in an air force airport in Suwon, Kyonggi Province, and have outlaid a large sum of money on it every year.

Revelation went in the past that the U.S. transferred all the depleted uranium shells to south Korea from the U.S. military base in Okinawa in the face of strong protest by the Japanese people and that it stockpiled a total of 2.74 million of them in the U.S. military bases in Suwon and Osan in Kyonggi Province and Chongju, North Chungchong Province, to provoke a furor. But this is the first time they were revealed to have been under the direct management of the south Korean military.

It shows to what extent the south Korean authorities have gone in their shameful …

Japan can never shirk responsibility for sinking DPRK fishing vessel

By KCNA

Japan is trying to carry the war into the enemy's camp despite its burglar-like act of sinking our fishing vessel when it was on its normal navigation in the waters of the East Sea of Korea.

The Japanese authorities, opening to the public on Oct. 18 a video showing our vessel sinking, talked nonsense that "while our patrol ship was sailing frontward, the north Korean vessel turned the helm to the left" and "we took an appropriate measure to control illicit operation."

This is none other than a trick to evade the responsibility for sinking the vessel by ascribing the incident to so-called "illicit fishing operation" and "mistake in controlling vessel."

The fishing vessel incident obviously is nothing but a deliberate barbarity as it is a vivid expression of the Japanese authorities' insane hostile policy toward the DPRK.

The chief executive of Japan at the full-dress session of the House of Councilors on Oct. 8 said that an illega…

Kim Yong Chol warns US of permanent enmity

Image
STATEMENT
By KAPPC Chairman Kim Yong Chol

Kim Yong Chol, chairman of the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, (KAPPC) made public a statement on Oct. 27. The statement reads:

The U.S. is now more desperately resorting to the hostile policy towards the DPRK, misjudging the patience and tolerance of the DPRK.

Faulting the DPRK on its measure for bolstering up its military capability for self-defence at the recent meeting of the First Committee of the 74th United Nations General Assembly, the U.S. delegate said the U.S. would not enter the U.S.-DPRK dialogue with its eyes shut and north Korea must come up with a new methodology for FFVD, which got on the nerves of the DPRK.

The U.S. is persistently pressurizing other countries into implementing the UN "sanctions resolutions" and is leaving no stone unturned to get the anti-DPRK resolutions passed in the UN General Assembly, using its satellite countries.

KCNA warns S Korea of intentional provocation

By KCNA

The military of south Korea has gone beyond the red line in its reckless act of belligerency.

The commander of the missile command of the south Korean army announced at the "National Assembly" that it would conduct a ballistic missile firing drill again this year and regularly stage Hyonmu-series ballistic missile firing drill every year.

This is just an open declaration of war to open fire at the compatriots in the north and an intentional provocation to throw the Korean peninsula into lingering tensions.

As known, Hyonmu-series ballistic missile was developed to target the DPRK and its capacity for preemptive attack has been drastically increased for decades since its introduction.

The military of south Korea has constantly threatened the DPRK, screwing up tensions by ceaselessly conducting ballistic missile launching drills behind the curtains of dialogue and peace.

Billing it as a "missile with a longer range and stronger power than the north's", th…

Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory associated with warm love for the people

Image
Kumsanpho specialty shops arranged in different parts of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, are now crowed with citizens buying various pickled-fish products.

Those products are associated with Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un's warm love for the people.

The Supreme Leader personally initiated the construction of a modern factory producing food made of pickled fish in an industrial way and a fishery station for its operation and set their position in Kumsanpho.

He went to the spot in March Juche 104 (2015) to indicate in detail the way for building all the objects to be impeccable in the distant future. And he named the factory and fishery station.

Visiting the completed factory in January 2017, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that scientists and technicians established a technical process capable of producing pickled fish in an industrial way, and encouraged them to deepen the research into method of making picked fish.

Taekwon-Do, orthodox martial art of Korean nation

Image
Taekwon-Do, orthodox martial art of the Korean nation, is displaying its might in the world arena.

Its development would have been unthinkable without guidance of the peerlessly great men.

Exclusion of Korean children from supporting system is undisguised hostile move towards DPRK

STATEMENT
By DPRK MFA Spokesperson

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following statement on Thursday:

Anti-Japanese sentiments of our people are flaring up because of the unjust step by the Japanese government to have finally excluded the infant classes of Korean schools from the "free infant education and child upbringing" system.

Not satisfied in having excluded the Korean children in Japan from the high school supporting system, the Japanese government has now completely refused education support even for the children at infant classes. This is an undisguised hostile move towards the DPRK and an intolerable reckless act of inhumane nature.

The despicable acts of the Japanese authorities towards the Korean residents in Japan did not happen merely one or two times in the past. But, the latest heinous and reckless act of bruising even the minds of infants was not seen before.

S Korean organizations denounce Japan's attitude to its history of colonial domination

Image
Members of the Fellow University Students and the "Peaceful Butterfly Network" of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on October 21 to condemn Japan's attitude to its history of colonial domination, according to the south Korean internet paper Jaju Sibo.

Speakers said that a Japanese enterprise has recently published an article titled "Can we remember the thing occurred more than 80 years ago" through an advertisement.

Saying that the atonement for the past crimes has not yet been finished, they added that the bullying act of the Japanese enterprise, far from making an apology to the victims, invokes the anger of the people.

They stressed that they would continue to struggle until Japan makes an apology and reparation for its past crimes.

South Korean authorities should exercise prudence

By KCNA

The south Korean military authorities have become keen on introducing ultra-modern military hardware targeting the DPRK.

At the recent "parliamentary inspection of the administration", the military warmongers called for developing and updating lots of military hardware such as laser-guided anti-air weaponry, cyber and electronic warfare equipment, nuclear-powered sub, large transport ship and coastal detector and bringing in various sorts of sophisticated arms and weapons including stealth fighters, air tanker and drone allegedly to cope with threats from the DPRK.

The record arms buildup now pushed forward at the expense of astronomical amount of money by south Korea, not content with those that have already been brought for aggression, is an act of defiance against the Koreans and the international community aspiring after stability and peace on the Korean peninsula and in the region.

From the beginning of this year, the south Korean military group has persisted in…

Constitutional government for people can be realized by only socialist state

Image
By Professor, Ph D Hwang Kum Chol
Rodong Sinmun

Genuine constitutional government for the people can be successfully realized by only the socialist state whose master is the people and where everything serves them.

The socialist law-governed state of Juche is a genuine country of the people where the law defends the people and the most advantageous country where the people observe the law.

In the DPRK socialist constitution and all other laws are enacted to reflect the demands and will of the people and legally represent their independent rights.

In the DPRK the Party's policy for the people-first principle reliably preserves the independent and creative life of the people and ensures a high-degree political stability.

In the DPRK the people accept it as demand of life rather than a duty to work and live as required by the socialist laws and regulations and voluntarily observe the law and take an attitude befitting masters in fight against illegal phenomena.

Crime against humanity never tolerable

By Ho Yong Min
Rodong Sinmun

Despite an avalanche of criticism at home and abroad, the Japanese authorities ultimately excluded the kindergartens of Korean schools from the "program for free education and upbringing of children" enforced on Oct. 1.

This as a naked act hostile to the DPRK and an intolerable crime against humanity.

The Japanese reactionaries have taken not a few mean and cheap actions against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and the Koreans in Japan so far, but this time they committed the worst-ever crime against Korean children, overshadowing even their hearts.

It is an unpardonable crime through centuries that they practiced state discrimination and persecution against the issue of upbringing children in order to stamp out the democratic national education of Chongryon at any cost and to put into effect the "theory on natural destruction" of the Korean community in Japan as soon as possible.

We can never tolerate th…

Japan, is it dispelling security unease or inciting security crisis?

By KCNA

A ground-based Patriot MD system was deployed for drill by the Japan Air "Self-Defense Force" in the middle of Tokyo to receive media coverage on Oct. 9.

A person concerned said that the drill was aimed to "help the public relieve unease at repeated missile launches of north Korea."

Curious is how much "relieving effect" such drill gave to the Japanese as dozens of SDF soldiers were crying and running helter-skelter for combat preparations in a park for citizens' leisure, bringing launchers and radar and laying electric wire.

There is no denying that such an open drill outside a military facility, something very exceptional, is quite effective in stirring up public opinion about "severe security circumstances" in Japan.

Being displeased with the trend toward peace that hit the region, which it thinks would not be favorable for realizing its wild ambition for militarism, Japan has worked hard to destroy it, enduring even "alienat…

Japanese authorities' heinous discrimination against Korean children in Japan

STATEMENT
By DLAK Spokesperson

A spokesperson for the Democratic Lawyers Association of Korea on Wednesday made public a statement:

The Japanese authorities eventually excluded kindergartens of Korean schools from the "program for free education and upbringing of children" which has been enforced from Oct. 1.

Abe regime committed a heinous crime against humanity in which it excluded kindergartens of Korean schools from the "program for free education and upbringing of children" for the mere reason that the kindergartens of Korean schools teach Korean, not Japanese.

The Japanese reactionaries' recent atrocious act, the extension of their hostile policy towards the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), clearly shows their vicious prejudice and discrimination against Koreans in Japan.

The Democratic Lawyers Association of Korea strongly denounces the heinous discrimination by the Japanese aut…

Singijon, origin of multi-stage rocket

Image
The Korean people made a jet-propelled weapon for the first time in the world.

Kwanghwi, which had the same operating principle with rocket, came into being in the period of Koguryo (B.C. 277-A.D. 668), and Singijon, the origin of multi-stage rocket, appeared in the early 15th century.

Singijon was classified into small, medium and large one according to its size, type and structure of reaction powder-flask.

The small-sized Singijon was a kind of two-stage rocket as it could fly far to a distance by the force of gas emitted from two powder-flasks installed in the tail of an arrow.

The other two weapons equipped with more powder-flasks could fly like three-stage and four-stage rockets.

In the mid-15th century, dimensions of Singijon were standardized on a nationwide scale.

This weaponry was used in the battles of Kyongju and Haengjusan castles during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598).

Immutable course of self-reliant prosperity

By Rodong Sinmun

The victorious advance of Juche Korea and its bright future lie in firmly holding the banner of independence and self-support no matter how the conditions and circumstances of the revolutionary struggle change. This is the truth the Korean people have kept deep in mind.

Self-reliance is the bedrock of the existence of Korean-style socialism, the motive power of its advance and development and the eternal lifeline essential to the destiny of the Korean revolution.

No one can help us and wants us being well-off. Now it is the height of folly to expect other's help.

Ceaseless difficulties face us and we suffer a lot of shortages. But they can never be stumbling block to our advance.

We have capacities and foundation for self-reliant development provided by our strenuous efforts for decades. We can overcome the present difficulties and open an avenue of prosperity with our own efforts, if we make the good use of our production potential and economic foundation.

Let us…

Japanese authorities drive DPRK-Japan relations to worst phase

STATEMENT
By DPRK-Japan Friendship Association Spokesperson

The Japanese authorities eventually excluded kindergartens of Korean schools from the "program for free education and upbringing of children" being enforced from Oct. 1.

The exclusion of the children of Koreans in Japan, who are paying consumption taxes just like the Japanese people, from the waiver program is against the Japanese law and international law, which is also an intolerable act of national discrimination in view of humanitarianism.

This situation vividly shows once again that the Japanese reactionaries can never change in their hostile policy toward the DPRK and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and their malicious discrimination against the Koreans in Japan.

Though belatedly, the Japanese authorities should sincerely fulfill their bounden legal and moral duty that obliges them to treat Koreans in Japan and their children favorably and protect them.

Imperialists' sanctions are not omnipotent weapons

Image
By Kim Kwang Myong
Rodong Sinmun

The U.S. and other Western powers are putting pressure upon the countries disobedient to them with sanctions and are also vociferating that they can lift the sanctions if the countries accept their demand.

It is an intention of the imperialists to force others to kneel down with "carrot" and "whip" and one step of concession leads to ruin in the end.

The reality shows that the world and mankind can never rest in peace unless the high-handed and arbitrary practices of the imperialists are checked.

The aim of the imperialists' sanctions is to throw economy of countries incurring their displeasure into confusion and to destabilize people and thus realize regime change and put those countries under their control.

Compromising with the imperialists' sanctions can neither defend the state nor bring happiness to the people.

Fear and concession in face of the imperialists' sanctions lead to ruin.

Japanese politicians' visit to Yasukuni Shrine

STATEMENT
By Association of Korean Victims Spokesperson

The spokesman for the Association of Korean Victims of Forcible Drafting and Their Bereaved Families issued a statement Sunday to accuse the present Japanese government ministers of making a visit to Yasukuni Shrine:

Following the chief executive, other government ministers of Japan offered tributes to the shrine and more than 90 dietmen from the ruling and opposition parties made a group visit to it on Oct. 18.

Yasukuni Shrine is a symbol of Japanese militarism where the departed souls of the top-class war criminals still linger. The war criminals were punished by history for their engagement in the war of aggression and plunder.

What is sought by the Japanese politicians by making the visit to Yasukuni Shrine an organized and an annual one is to intoxicate the Japanese nationals with the militarist toxin and to realize at any cost their failed old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere".

The recent visit…

Hidden confrontation, war without gunfire

Rodong Sinmun on confrontation with imperialists in field of ideology and culture
By Ri Hak Nam

The imperialists are trying to infringe upon the sovereignty of other countries and overthrow their governments through hidden means of attack.

The means of attack is the ideology and culture, which is hidden confrontation and war without gunfire.

This war is acuter and severer than a war with physical power and determines the destiny of a country and a nation.

The ideological and cultural poisoning is the trite method of domination and invasion used by the imperialists since long ago. And it is the main means of aggression desperately used by the imperialists at present when the structure of forces in the world is being changed rapidly and the strength-all-powerful doctrine has become impotent. It is the strategy of the imperialists to dominate the world through "peaceful transition" by persistently conducting ideological and cultural poisoning, which they failed with military p…

Revelation of Abe's inveterate wild ambition for reinvasion

By Son So Yon
Rodong Sinmun

Japanese Prime Minister Abe in his address to the interim Diet session on Oct. 4 described Japan in its imperial era as a "country that advocated racial equality against colonialism."

If Abe wants to explain what kind of country Japan was in the first half of the 20th century, he should fully consider the view of the neighboring countries.

Several countries in the Asia-Pacific region including Korea and China were invaded by Japan's forces.

The Japanese militarists inflicted untold pain and misfortune upon the people in the countries under their occupation and brutally massacred innocent people.

Abe embellished Japan's past history of aggression and called for constitutional revision. It is just a revelation of Abe's inveterate wild ambition for reinvasion and the height of history distortion.

Recently, Abe referred to the possibility of Diet dissolution, pressurizing the opposition parties to take part in the discussion for retrogress…

The Korean revolution is recorded as the most arduous and complicated, but ever-victorious one in the history of the world movement for socialism.

SHED for breakwater developed in DPRK

Shepherd Hill Energy Dissipator (SHED) is expected to be widely used in breakwater construction in the DPRK for its low cost and safety.

This cube-shaped concrete part was developed by the Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences.

In this regard, Son Song Chol, section chief of the Institute, told KCNA:

The SHED was firstly introduced into the breakwater construction for Koam-Tapchon railway crossing rough sea of Sokjon Bay in the East Sea of Korea.

It helped save tens of thousands of concrete parts, as compared with the usage of tetrapods, and reduce the submergence workload for leveling thousands of square meters of foundation bed, thus lowering the height of break wall by 40 percent while raising the wave damping factor 40-50 percent.

DPRK will never overlook US provocative moves

Image
By KCNA

The U.S. and the south Korean authorities persist in grave military provocative moves against the DPRK behind the curtain of dialogue and peace.

The commander of the U.S. Marines disclosed in a seminar on October 3 that the U.S.-south Korea marine corps' joint drill has been waged non-stop, adding that it would be staged this autumn, too.

This clearly shows once again that the U.S. and south Korean authorities remain unchanged in their aggressive purpose to stifle the DPRK by force and "peace" and "improvement of relations" touted by them are nothing but a screen to cover up their sinister purpose.

The marine corps' joint drill which has been continuously staged by the U.S. and south Korean authorities is the very aggressive exercise to invade the north as it is one for the U.S. 3rd Marine Expeditionary Unit present in Japan and the south Korean Marine Corps to verse in precision strike at and sudden occupation of the strategic interior and importan…
